Stoney Creek Campground

Hello Everyone, we are now getting closer to NY.. We stopped here in Virginia at the Stoney Creek Camp ground. The Camp ground needs a lot of work, and they are making room for more camp sites, so it’s not peaceful and quiet, lots of noise with the trucks and bulldozers going,  They need to improve what they already have. The roads in the park are horrible. They only have one out of 4 shower houses working, trash all over their beach and lake. They have a lot of permanent campers here, very loud and obnoxious people.  We do not recommend this place to anyone. Just letting RVers out there know, not a good place for right now.  Will not come here again.

While we were here, we did go into Staunton, VA which is a very historic place. Nice small town. It was our Anniversary, so we had a great day of walking around the historical town and took a few pictures, and I am using some from the internet. We just walked around checking out the historic buildings in town,

The train stations that once was a thriving station.

Amtrak still stops there but does not have an active station. They turned the train station into a restaurant, Pullman Restaurant, but it was shut down about 10 years ago. Still vacant to this day. The inside has about 20 or so Tiffany hanging lamps hanging from the ceiling.

We went to a small wine tasting place that makes some good Riesling wine locally, The Ox-Eye vineyards.

Would not believe at times you go visit some place and you find out that the oldest something is in the area, well the oldest Pawn shop in the country is right here in Staunton, VA.. 1890

Ended the day with a great diner at the Byers St. Bistro. Was an awesome meal. Jodi had a grilled chicken power salad and I had the Bistro Burger. Very good. Would recommend this place when visiting Staunton, VA…

Will make this a Bobble Eats and Drinks on the Map!! You all should check out the Map here on my blog, just click where we are now in the menu bar….

We are heading to Gifford Pinchot state park, PA, just outside of Gettysburg. We have been there before and it is a great place of history. Jodi and I are going to just enjoy the State Park while there. We have done the Gettysburg Historic site seeing when we were here the last two times…

Hope all is well, and that the winter season is over for the North…. Better be, because we are heading that way….

Will update you guys in a few days on our last few stops before we start our Camp Hosting job up in NY….

The Bobble Head Travelers,  Mark and Jodi…
