This is Freedom RV and Freedom Hauler under the Grants New Mexico Route 66 sign they have in their little town.
Hello Friends and Family, we are 19 days into our adventure to the Tetons up in Wyoming. We are really excited and look forward to seeing the Tetons. We are in New Mexico at a nice Campground we have been to two other times. We really like this place because its out in the country, wooded area. Beautiful pines all around. You smell the pines. This place is called Pendaries RV Resort. It has a nice hike trail to a turquoise mine that you are allowed to dig around the entrance of the mine for some turquoise and you can keep them. When we were here the first time 2023, we hiked to the mine and got about a dozen pieces of turquoise. We are going to get a tumbler and get them polished up nicely. This RV Resort is a Passport America Park, get half price for 3 days and regular price for the next 4 days if you stay more than 3 days. The sad thing is it started raining the second day we arrived and has rained on and off the rest of our time we are here. P.S. We hiked to the mine Thursday morning. We did beat the storm, started to thunder and rain 10 minutes after we got back to our site. We did get more Turquoise to tumble when we get back to Arizona for the winter. Yaaaaaa…
Some pictures of our stop at Pendaries RV Resort and the hike up to the Turquoise Mine.
A little history of what happen to this area. The Largest wild fire in the history of New Mexico started as a controlled burn, done during 50 to 60 MPH winds, got out of control. In the summer of 2022, just outside of Las Vegas, NM an extreme drought conditions, low snow pack, and high winds combined to create the worst wildfire season New Mexico had ever seen. The largest and most devastating of those fires was the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon fire. Ultimately, the fire would burn close to 342,000 acres (over 500 sq. miles) and over 900 structures, becoming the largest wildfire in New Mexico history. For residents of the affected communities, the disaster was exacerbated even more when monsoon season rains followed on the burn scar, causing massive and devastating flooding. Close to 25 people lost their lives during the first Monsoon Season after the Fires.

Posting a few pictures that I took when we first hit the road, and our first stop was the Beautiful Lost Dutchman State Park, AZ.

Pictures of Homolovi State Park, AZ and the surrounding area. There is a Trading Post down the road called Jack Rabbit Trading post. On Jack Rabbit road.

Pictures of Sky City Casino RV Park near Grants, NM. We have been to this RV Park like 4 times.

We are heading to Colorado tomorrow, We have two more stops and we will be stopping by to visit our friends that we worked for and with, for the past two summers at the Bellvue Watson Fish Hatchery, Colorado. We can’t wait to see them again and see our pet fish that we took care of for the past two summers.Â
We will then head to Laramie, WY for 30 days to burn up some time before getting to the Teton National Park. We have to take our time from there to head back to our winter home in Sierra Vista, AZ. We will be heading back in a different direction, from Colorado to Utah and then Arizona. We will be stopping at two locations we have been to before. Bluff, UT and Tuba City, Navajo Nation reservation area. Tuba City is where the dinosaur tracks are located.  We got a lot of good pictures of the tracks the last time we were in Tuba City.
So just to let you know what is going on with us on our trip to the Tetons. When we get there, I will get some good pictures and post them when we head back to Arizona. I do hope we have some good weather for us when we get to the Tetons. So far the weather has been pretty good for us till we got to Las Vegas, New Mexico a week ago. Out of the 6 days we were here, our first day was nice then rain on and off every day since. Looks good for our departure tomorrow to head to Colorado….

Take Care folks and stay tuned and I shall send out some more good information on our Adventures soon…
