Elephant Butte Lake State Park

Hello everyone, YES, Jodi and I have added another State to our travel map, New Mexico!!!!

We are heading back east and have 4 more states to go, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. We will try to see some interesting things and places at each stop, but our main concern is get back safely to NY.  We are still upset that the Grand Canyon had to be taken off of our trip because of the snow and bad weather that happen to close it down the time we were going to visit. We are going to be traveling for many years to come, so we will be seeing this area of the country again.

What Jodi and I have seen in the past year has been without saying the most spectacular sites views of this country we have ever seen in our lives. Just click on the photo albums up in the menu bar and see all the pictures.  We can’t wait to see even more in our future years of travel.

We are here in New Mexico at Elephant Butte Lake State Park. Nice park with a view and we do like this park. We are dealing with lots of strong winds here, and traveling on the highways is something you do need to keep in mind when going across country. We are also concerned about the bad weather that is hitting central U.S. and tornadoes that are popping up all over. This is another thing you as Rvers need to keep in mind traveling. The timing of going from east cost to west cost or vise versa, you need to keep in mind the tornado alley. Jodi and I are going to head back east during this time and we don’t like it, but we want to get back to NY for the summer. So we are heading back faster then we want to beat the bad weather, not to sure that will happen for us, but we will try. Pray for our safe travel back to NY…

We are now heading to Albuquerque next few days, then heading east to Amarillo, TX. Both of these stops will only be two-day stays, just so we can start heading back east quickly.

Will keep you posted and keep watch on the weather across the states.

Stay tuned and will be Bobbling east..     The Bobble Head Travelers, Mark and Jodi

Goldfield Ghost Town / Lost Dutchman State Park / Tortilla Flat, Arizona

Jodi and I went to the Goldfield Ghost Town here next to the Lost Dutchman State Park… A neat little ghost town. A few nice little shops around the town, and even a Saloon, where we did grab a few drinks. Before we stopped in the saloon, we saw a gun fight in the middle of the town.. Yes it was fun…..Here are some pictures..

Some more pictures of the Goldfield Ghost town..

Had a nice 4.1 hike in the Lost Dutchman Superstitions Mountain area, the Tonto National Forest.. Nice long hike, and it was up and down the mountain.  Lots of lizards and rattle snakes out, but we didn’t run into any snakes…

A Coyote Sun Clock!!

Some of the Cactus are blooming this time of the year too.. Very pretty and colorful here.

After our hike we then had a nice visit with a couple that we became friends with before we went full timing Rving a year ago. Their name is Rob and Sherry Scribner. They have a few online sites that are about them and their Rv/Boating life style.  We were doing a lot of research on our new life style that we were about to embark.  Their videos helped us tremendously in our first year, and now we have learned a lot on our own, and I am thinking of sharing many of those experiences with any of you out there that are thinking of full timing. We had a great visit with them here in Lost Dutchman State Park, and finally had a chance to meet them and also Cinder there Lab. They have decided to buy a house and live in Mesa, AZ for now… Taking a break from full time Rving. Some of their YouTube sites include RV Talk Radio, RV Travel Buddy, Outdoor Travel Channel and Arizona Talk Radio… Check them out.

We also had a chance to go to a small town 11 miles from the Lost Dutchman State Park called Tortilla Flat… It has a population of 6 people. They are the ones who own the town.. A cute place, but to get to it, it is a real curvy up and down roads that will make you say Wow, white knuckle driving!!  Up that way there are three lakes, and a dam, the Roosevelt Dam, and the three lake are Canyon Lake, Apache Lake and Roosevelt Lake with Dam. The road after Tortilla Flat is dirt road to the dam, and it is a washboard dirt road all the way.. Did not want to ride out there in the truck, to bumpy. Had a live band called the Tortilla Flat Band.. They were pretty good, did an Eagle song Take It Easy, in Winslow Arizona.. lol

Coming soon!!

I am working on a video of the Lost Dutchman State Park. Our Camp site # 55 and the view we had for 10 days.. Will let you know when you can click on it in the menu above so you can see it.

We are heading back to New York the end of this week, and will be stopping in 5 more states to add to our travel map.. We are sad we won’t make it to the Grand Canyon, but I am not willing to take my chances with snow and ice on the roads. They are still having snow up there. Please be praying for our safe travels back through tornado alley. There has been a lot of tornadoes in the states we are going to travel though to get back to NY.. Just last night there was a few that touched down in Texas, and killed 3 storm chasers. Not fun at all trying to dodge the bad weather, but it is part of the RV lifestyle. We just have to pay attention to the weather and signs and take cover when we can… Keep us in your prayers please…

On to New Mexico after a few more stops in AZ. Stay tuned and see what we are doing next…                 The Bobble Head Travelers,   Mark and Jodi…..
